The Full Couture Process

Every Bella Luna gown is custom-made from scratch using your measurements, design preferences, and couture-level craftsmanship. Whether you choose one of our existing bridal or quinceañera gowns, customize an existing design, or request a fully bespoke custom creation, our couture seamstress team guides you through every stage of the process.

Below is a simplified overview of how our online couture ordering process works — from inspiration and customization to final approval and insured delivery.

Bella Luna Gowns online couture wedding gown ordering process for custom bridal and quinceañera gowns

Step 1: Choose, Customize, or Create Your Design

You may:

  • Order one of our gowns as shown

  • Customize an existing Bella Luna design

  • Or create a completely bespoke custom gown inspired by your own ideas and inspiration photos

Many brides combine elements from multiple gowns, such as the corset from one design, the skirt from another, and the neckline from a third. The more inspiration photos and details you provide, the better our team can understand your vision.

Please email us at sales@bellalunagowns.com with:

  • Your wedding or event date

  • Inspiration photos or sketches

  • Desired silhouette and design details

  • Customization requests

  • Any important timeline information

Step 2: Design Review & Quote

After reviewing your request, our couture team may ask a few follow-up questions regarding fabrics, lace, structure, embellishments, train length, sleeves, neckline, or other customization details.

Once we fully understand the design and craftsmanship involved, we will provide a personalized quote. For fully bespoke gowns, we will also create a custom order listing for you to place your order online securely.

Step 3: Measurements & Final Design Approval

After your order is placed, we will send you a detailed measurement form to complete.

Once your measurements are submitted, our couture team carefully reviews and confirms all final gown details with you, including:

  • Measurements and proportions

  • Silhouette and structure

  • Fabrics and lace selections

  • Neckline and sleeve details

  • Color and embellishment choices

  • Train length and custom specifications

At this point, all gown details become final before production begins.

Because every gown moves through multiple couture production stages — including fabric sourcing, custom pattern making, cutting, construction, sewing, embellishment, and finishing — design changes after production begins may interrupt the process and require completed stages to be remade.

Step 4: Fabric Sourcing & Pattern Making

Bella Luna couture wedding gown pattern making and custom bridal construction process

Once your design is finalized, our couture team begins sourcing the fabrics and materials for your gown.

We use premium bridal-grade fabrics, laces, tulles, satins, mikados, silks, and embellishments sourced from trusted suppliers around the world. For bespoke gowns, we may share fabric swatch options, color samples, or lace selections that we believe would beautifully complement your design. We may also show examples of fabrics used in previous gowns to help you better visualize how a particular fabric, texture, or finish looks once transformed into a completed gown.

Once you make your selection, we will order fabrics. At the same time, our couture team begins creating your custom gown patterns.

A pattern is the blueprint of your gown, individually created based on your measurements, proportions, and finalized design details. It serves as the foundation for the fit, structure, silhouette, and overall construction of your dress.

Step 5: Couture Production Begins

Once fabrics arrive, our couture seamstress team carefully handcrafts your gown from scratch using custom patterns, couture construction techniques, and detailed finishing methods.

Each gown goes through multiple stages of couture production, including:

  • Pattern cutting

  • Structure and corsetry work

  • Sewing and gown assembly

  • Lace placement and embellishment

  • Hand-finishing and pressing

  • Quality inspections

Our standard production timeline is typically up to 16 weeks depending on:

  • The season

  • Gown complexity

  • Fabric availability

  • And our current production schedule

Production time begins after measurements and final gown details are received and approved — not simply when the order is placed.

For this reason, we strongly recommend ordering as early as possible and including your wedding or event date in your initial email inquiry.

Step 6: Final Photos & Approval

Once your gown is completed or nearly finished, we will send you final photos for review and approval before shipment.

This is one of the most exciting moments for many of our brides — seeing their vision come to life for the very first time.

After approval, your gown moves to final quality control and professional packaging.

Step 7: Shipping & Delivery

Before shipment, every gown undergoes careful inspection to ensure the craftsmanship, detailing, structure, and finishing meet our couture standards.

Your gown is then professionally packaged and shipped fully insured with tracking and signature confirmation required upon delivery.

Most domestic U.S. orders are shipped through UPS, and occasionally FedEx.

Estimated shipping times:

  • United States: approximately 3–5 business days

Brides located closer to California may receive domestic shipments slightly faster.

Final Note

Because every Bella Luna gown is individually handcrafted and made specifically to your measurements and design preferences, we recommend allowing adequate time for couture production and any desired final alterations after delivery.

Every Bella Luna gown represents months of artistry, craftsmanship, and careful attention to detail. We understand that your wedding gown is more than just a dress — it is part of one of the most meaningful moments of your life. From the first inspiration photo to the final reveal, our goal is to create a couture experience that feels personal, memorable, and uniquely yours.

We are honored to be part of such an important moment in our brides’ lives and look forward to bringing your vision to life.

Why Choose Online Couture?

Bella Luna Gowns was created to make couture bridal and occasion wear more accessible to brides nationwide without sacrificing artistry, craftsmanship, or customization.

Traditionally, custom couture gowns are often associated with luxury bridal ateliers and celebrity-level pricing, with many couture boutiques charging several thousand dollars for even the simplest custom gowns. Because traditional salons and showrooms carry significant overhead costs, couture pricing can quickly become inaccessible for many brides.

Our online couture model allows us to focus our investment where it matters most: premium fabrics, couture craftsmanship, custom construction, and personalized design rather than maintaining a large physical showroom and pre-made inventory.

Because every gown is made from scratch and specifically for each client, our brides are able to customize silhouettes, necklines, sleeves, corsetry, fabrics, embellishments, trains, and countless other details to create a gown that reflects their unique vision.

Unlike mass-produced bridal retail, our gowns are individually handcrafted through a detailed couture process that includes custom pattern making, fabric sourcing, structural construction, embellishment work, and final finishing tailored specifically to each bride’s measurements and design preferences.

Our online couture process also allows brides from around the world to access highly personalized couture services regardless of location. Through written communication and our step-by-step couture process, we are able to work closely with brides remotely throughout the entire design journey while providing highly personalized couture services regardless of location.

Because each gown is created using the bride’s submitted measurements and finalized specifications, many of our brides find they avoid the extensive resizing and reconstruction often associated with standard retail bridal sizing. While minor tailoring or personal fit adjustments may still be desired after delivery, our made-to-measure couture process is designed to help minimize the need for major alterations whenever possible.

For many brides, online couture offers the flexibility, personalization, craftsmanship, and couture-level detailing they may not find through traditional retail bridal shopping — often at a far more accessible price point than many traditional couture boutiques.

FAQ

Q1) Do you have a physical store? Can I try on gowns in person?

Bella Luna Gowns is an online couture atelier, so we do not offer in-person try-ons. Every gown is custom-made from scratch to your measurements and finalized specifications.

By operating online rather than through a traditional bridal showroom, we are able to focus our investment on premium materials, couture craftsmanship, and made-to-measure construction while offering a more accessible price point than many traditional bridal boutiques.

Q2) Do your gowns include built-in support structures?

Yes. Your Bella Luna gown is designed with internal support structures to help provide shape, support, comfort, and a more secure fit.

Depending on the gown design, construction may include:

  • Internal boning and corsetry

  • Built-in bra cups

  • Bust support structures

  • Inner support layers

  • Adjustable lace-up corset backs or structured closures

  • Bra strap holders or support loops when appropriate

  • Layered linings and structural fabrics for shaping and volume

Because every gown is custom-made, the internal construction may vary depending on the gown design, neckline, silhouette, fabric choice, and level of structure needed.

Our couture team carefully designs each gown to balance beauty, structure, comfort, and support while maintaining the overall look and elegance of the design.

Q3) What is your production timeline?

Standard production time is typically up to 16 weeks (approximately 4 months), depending on the season, gown complexity, fabric availability, and current production schedule.

Recommended timeline:

  • Ideal ordering window: 6 months before your wedding or event

  • Rush availability for events within 16 weeks is limited and must be confirmed before ordering

Please email us with your wedding or event date before placing your order.

Q4) How do measurements work?

After your order is placed, we will email you a detailed measurement form along with instructions and next steps.

Measurements are submitted by the client. For the best results, we strongly recommend having measurements taken by a professional tailor or seamstress using our provided guide.

Q5) Will my gown fit me?

Your gown is created using the measurements and specifications you provide and approve before production begins.

For the best possible fit, we recommend having measurements professionally taken and carefully reviewed before submission. Because every body is unique, some clients may still choose minor tailoring after delivery for personal preference or final fit adjustments.

Q6) Will I need alterations?

Most of our clients find their gowns fit beautifully when measurements are submitted accurately. However, as with most bridal gowns — including couture and boutique gowns — some clients may still choose minor alterations after delivery for personal preference, comfort, or final fit refinements.

Any alterations after delivery are the client’s responsibility.

For full details, please review our Custom Order Policies and Returns Policy.

Q7) Can I customize one of your existing designs?

Yes. Many of our brides customize existing Bella Luna gowns to better reflect their personal vision and style preferences.

Common customizations may include:

  • Neckline changes

  • Sleeve additions or removals

  • Corset modifications

  • Skirt shape adjustments

  • Train length changes

  • Fabric or color modifications

  • Added embellishments or lace details

You may also combine elements from multiple gowns to create a more personalized couture design.

Q8) Do you send fabric swatches?

For select bespoke and highly customized gowns, fabric swatch options or reference examples may be provided during the design process when available.

Because many of our gowns are fully custom and fabrics are sourced specifically for each design, available swatch options may vary depending on the gown, timeline, and fabric supplier availability.

Q9) Do you ship internationally?

At this time, Bella Luna Gowns serves customers within the United States only and does not accept international orders through our website.

All gowns are professionally packaged, fully insured, and shipped with tracking provided nationwide within the United States.

Q10) How does payment work?

Once your gown details and quote are finalized, we will provide you with either a private custom order link or direct you to the appropriate Bella Luna product page to complete your order securely online.

We accept:

  • Full payment at checkout
  • Installment payment options through Shop Pay and Klarna

Shop Pay and Klarna are trusted third-party payment providers that allow qualifying clients to divide their purchase into scheduled payments based on their approval terms.

Because every Bella Luna gown is custom-made specifically for each client, production officially begins after the order is placed, measurements are received, and final gown details are approved regardless of which payment option you choose.

Q11: What is the price range for a Bella Luna couture gown?

Custom Bella Luna bridal couture gowns typically range from $2,200 to $3,700+, with bespoke couture designs available from $4,500+. Quinceañera couture gowns start at $1,400. Final pricing depends on design complexity, fabric selection, embellishments, and customization details. Once you submit your inspiration and preferred details, we provide a personalized custom quote before any commitment.

Q12: What is your return and refund policy?

Because each Bella Luna gown is custom-made specifically to your measurements and approved design specifications, all couture orders are non-returnable and non-refundable. We work closely with each bride through measurement submission and design approval to ensure clear communication before production begins. Full details are available in our Custom Order Policies.

Q13: What sizes do you accommodate?

Every Bella Luna gown is made-to-measure using your unique measurements — there are no standard size limits. We design and craft gowns for all body types, sizes, and shapes. Whether petite, plus-size, or any size in between, your gown is built specifically for you.

Q14: Do you offer gowns in colors other than white or ivory?

Yes. Many of our brides choose non-traditional colors including blush, champagne, mauve, dusty blue, black, or custom fabric tones for second weddings, vow renewals, elopements, or simply personal preference. Color customization is available across our bridal couture and quinceañera collections.

Q15: What if there is an issue with my gown when it arrives?

Every Bella Luna gown is professionally inspected, steamed, and packaged in California before shipping. In the rare event of a manufacturing concern that does not match your approved specifications, please contact our team within 48 hours of delivery with photos so we can review and address the concern according to our Custom Order Policies.

Q16: How do I get started?

Visit our Start Your Design page and send your inspiration photos, design ideas, or customization requests along with your wedding or event date. Our couture team will respond within 1-2 business days with a personalized quote and next steps.

Q17: Can I see photos of real brides in Bella Luna gowns?

Yes. Visit our Bella Luna Gowns Brides page to see photos and reviews from real brides who have worn their custom couture gowns at weddings nationwide.
